if you love animals, a great self employed job is to look after somebody else’s pets! As with children, it may be difficult for some people to ensure appropriate care for their pets, while they are at work. And this is where you come in, and this is where your passion for animals really comes into its own because you can get paid for it will stop

the easiest way to get started is of course if you know anybody already has pets and this challenge. Maybe you even know somebody who is already hiring a pet sitter, well they probably would be quite pleased to let a friend of theirs take over the contract – if you are a good friend and they trust you with their pets that is.

Otherwise, you might want to look at any local community groups, or at the local veterinary surgeon, or have a look online for any online outlets for people within your area, or a forum dedicated to pet sitting, which will likely have a section for people interested in pet sitting in your location. You might want to undergo a police check beforehand, as some people may wish to see this before hiring you.

Of course we have mentioned dogs, but there may be other pets that are the focus, for example maybe your required just to check up on the cat. If the cat is left indoors during the day, then of course it will need its cat litter tray cleaned, and you will need to ensure it has an ample supply of waterand is fed regularly. Or perhaps they have rodents or birds.

For dog walking, to ensure it’s worth your while, you will be looking to walk typically up to 4 dogs at a time. You will need to ensure that the dogs get on with each other, and be familiar with any local laws of the park that she may take the dogs to. You may also wish to ensure that you have details of the local veterinarian and dog warden. As you are charging per dog, depending on your client, you could easily charge between 15 and £50 per dog, per hour. Similarly, if your pet is minding then you will charge a daily rate.

The great thing about this job is there is very little expense to you, you simply turn up, take the dogs away if you are not pet sitting at home, exercise the dogs, and bring them back. Everything else that is needed such as food and other necessities, will be provided by the owner. The fantastic thing about walking dogs as well is that you get to experience some fresh air for yourself, and some exercise if you are running around with the dogs. And of course just like childminding, you get to experience the joy of looking after child, but without actually having the responsibility of having permanent responsibility over them.

In fact the only real negative about this type of work is that when the holiday seasons arrives, you will be most in demand. Although that is a strong positive if you do not tend to go away much during the holidays yourself anyway, in which case you can relish in theamount of offers, and the premium that you can charge for the holiday season. Happy pet setting!

Going self employed is something a number of people wish to do at some point in their life. There are a number of reasons for this:

Tired of work / life balance

Feel unappreciated by boss and company

No room for advancement

No training courses offered

Tired of career path

Change of life circumstances make current form of work impossible or unsustainable

Feeling that you have hit the salary ceiling and want to find another way to boost your salary or remove the ceiling off it.

Those are just a handful of the reasond why many people consider, and some people decide to act upon when it comes to the prospect of becoming self employed. There are many more reasons still why people think about and choose to go self employed. However in this short article we want to look at whether to go straight into full time self employment or part time.

Well we will get straight to the point, for most people the answer is to start part time. Why? Well consider the fact that most businesses fail within the first year. In other words it is not easy. Starting up part time allows you to keep the safety of your job and regular income while you work on building up your new career. If you should fail, no harm done because you have exactly what you had before you decided to try to become self employed. In times of economic downturns, it is especially important that you do not compromise the security of a job in the “hope” that a self employed venture will pan out. So for most people, they should try to figure out a way to build their self employed business venture part time around their full time job.

However, there are of course pros and cons to quitting your job to go self employed full time, or contunuing to work full time, while building up your self employed business part time.

Self Employed Full Time

Advantages

If your business concept is sound, in demand, and you can attract clients then you will very quickly find the decision to go straight into full time a wise decision

You can plan your time.

You are free from working from someone else

Disadvantages:

Risk of things not working out, even if you did thorough research

You do get business, but not as much as you had hoped for

Can end up working longer hours than when you were employed

Self Employed Part Time Around Full Time Job

Advantages

Keep the security of your job and income

Earn more money as you become more skilled at winning business from your full time job

You safely get to learn your craft and build your skills

You are training and building a business part time that you can comfortably take to full time when ready.

Disadvantages

You will have less free time for socialising – if you are taking the business seriously.

It may be difficult in some circumstances to market your business outside of standard working day hours

Determining the best self employed ideas to earn yourself an extra income can be difficult, as it depends on the nature of the careers, especially how it fits your personality type, your skill set, and the amount of time you can spend working. If you simply consider the amount of money you can make through the career when looking for a list of best jobs, this list will not be of much help.

Self employment jobs are a dime a dozen, and as such narrowing it down to a list of five can be very daunting, but some people know they want to work for themselves, but would like to see some self employment ideas to help them decide or inspire new ideas. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and rather than considering the traditional professional self employed professions, this article is geared towards those that. In no particular order, here they are.

Freelance Photographer. If photography is a passion of yours, and you have the necessary equipment and skills, this may be a great way of making good money from home. The best places where you can look for freelance photography opportunities are online magazines, as they are always looking for unique and interesting photographs. There are also a number of online stock photo providers that are looking for freelancers to provide those photos.

Freelance Writer Or Freelance Graphic Designer. Are you an aspiring writer, who would love to write for magazines or even write your own book, or just happy to simply write articles for people looking for fresh and original articles? Freelance writing is both rewarding and challenging, but should only be considered if you truly have a passion for writing. Pay does vary and will depend largely on demonstrable quality of work and experience.

Freelance Computer Programmer. It is a known fact that there are more trained programmers than needed out there today, however, if you have the skills, and are willing to work for a pay that may be below that which is paid by Microsoft, you can make good money working from home in this area.

Selling of items online. With ebay still as hot as ever, it is simply outrageous not to consider buying and selling items online as a viable way of working from home. Many people have made a living this way, and so can you if you have enough stock a product that will sell fast (for example dvds and antiques).

Freelance Graphic Designer. Amongst the employment spectrum, this is a relatively new position, however, there are hundreds if not thousands of graphic designers that have made a ton of money working from home. With the relentless growth of the Internet, companies and business are continuing to look for graphics and logo designs to help carve out their identity and distinguish them from competitors. If you have a knack for drawing, you will be in demand. When looking at self employed careers this is definitely not one to simply dismiss out of hand if you are skilled at graphic design.

As mentioned, there are plenty of self employed ideas for jobs out there, but hopefully the above will have at least inspired you to think of other possibilities if you have not seen an idea that suits you outright.

Starting your own business is not easy and you should do some research to find suitable self employment information, which is readily available on the internet and in your local library. Self employed jobs exist all over the world and many of them are so well established that they create job opportunities for many other people.

Running your own business is not easy and should not be taken on lightly. It is essential to do thorough research before attempting your own self employed business. Take a look at the following points you should consider before you start your own business:

Is the type of product you have to offer something that is already available for consumers to buy without being significantly different or unique?

If you are thinking about providing a service, is it sufficiently unique and is there a demand for it in the market? If it is not unique, is there still a high demand, with a low supply of service providers?

Will you always have a ready-made supply of your product for the public or do you need time away from your business to make your own product?

Is the business you are considering something that you can do alone or will you need staff?

The bank is more likely to give you a loan for your business if you can show them that this business will create new job opportunities for other people.

Do you have a place you can rent or buy where you can set up your new business if you should require this?

Many resources are available with self employment information. You can find articles, books, discussions and debates anywhere on the internet about how to go self employed. If you do your research right and you cover all bases then you increase your chances of making a success of the business.

Self doubt is something that will creep in at some time or another but you should not let it take hold of you. How many successful people do you think got there overnight? Many have had to work hard and through a lot of challenges to get there. As soon as you start doubting yourself, you doubt the business and everyone else who worked so hard with you up until that point. You need to be strong willed, positive and determined to succeed.

Keep a positive outlook on everything and know that you have all the self employment information you might need right at your fingertips. Your business is something that you should have a passion for, something that you devote all your time and energy into and you should never, ever, start a business because someone else told you to do so. If it is not something that you are passionate about or something that you want to do for the rest of your life, then you decrease the chances of the business becoming successful, and if it does, succeed, you are not likely to be happy.

So, if you are planning to quit your job and start your own business, keep in mind the points mentioned above. Most important of all, make sure you research all the self employment information that you to give yourself the best chance of success.

When looking for the best house sitting jobs you have to take into consideration certain important aspects in this regard. If you get the right job it can be both rewarding and fun. However, there are a lot of pitfalls that you can stumble into if you do not go into your job hunt with both eyes open.

Once you start looking for a job as a house-sitter you have to think about what the owner is looking for in a sitter. Are they simply looking for somebody to stay in their home and keep it secure, or are they looking for somebody to water their plants, walk their dog and keep the house in spit-spot shape?

With so many self employment jobs to choose from, you have to decide if house sitting jobs are in fact the best jobs for your specific situation. Do you have a family that stays with you and whom you have to support? Are you often busy in the evenings and won’t always be available to watch the house you are “sitting” between 8pm and 8am? Do you have any kind of criminal record? Do you need to make a lot of money in very little time? If you answered yes to any of these questions it is quite possible that you are not best suited for a job as a house-sitter.

If you have a family that needs you for support, or if you have your own home that you need to watch and keep organized it will prove quite difficult to give the needed attention to the house you are “sitting”. Should you be unavailable on many evenings that you are supposed to watch the house, the owners will become understandably worried about the security of their home.

Most home owners will do a thorough background search before employing a house-sitter to watch after their home, and as such if you have any criminal record it will be difficult to find an owner that will trust you with their belongings.

As to the final question, house sitting jobs are not the best paying jobs that are available for those looking at how to go self employed, and as such should only be considered if you are aware of the pay-grade that you will be looking at.

If you are still ready to become a great house-sitter after considering all of the points above, you can search for home owners that are looking for candidates, both online and offline. The best ways to find owners online are through craigslist and other similar classified sites. Offline, you can consult your local newspapers and magazines, as these will have the latest house sitting jobs in your area.

Self employment is no foreign concept in today’s walk of life; many people would like to be in charge of their earnings, time and destiny, but the major concern is How to go self employed. There are several issues that must be addressed when considering self employment:

Are you a person who likes to take the lead and expand on new concepts? Are you someone who will take an idea and run with it, letting nothing stop you?

If your answer is yes, then you might have what it takes to build your own self employed business.

If your answer is no, then you should maybe consider that working for someone is a lot less stressful than having to work for yourself and taking all the risks upon yourself.

Can you deal with disappointments well? Can you honestly say that you will not give up if your first attempt at establishing self employed opportunities for other job seekers does not work out?

If you cannot deal with disappointments then you should first consult a good friend or a consultant at your bank that can give you advice and look through your idea with you.

Self employed jobs need a lot more attention from you “the employer” than any job where you are an employee as opposed to an employer. You must realize that when going self employed, you are the main provider for the job you offer and you are responsible for any and all equipment and stock you may use in the business.

When you are self employed you need to keep stock of all supplies, everything that comes in or goes out of the business must be recorded and kept track of. You will be the “boss” in the business so you are solely responsible for any loss or profits.

When asking someone how to go self employed, most will answer that having the capital to do it is most important. Other people might say that yes, the funds are important but even more important is a business plan where you explain your “self employment idea” and how this business will one day be self sufficient.

Any self employed business must become self sufficient – otherwise you will run out of funds and the business will fail to make a profit.

Taking out a loan at the bank is not easy and is impossible without a business plan. The bank will not provide a loan to anyone who does not have a decent business plan in place and cannot prove to them that their self employment ideas are profitable.

When you consider all the facts of how to go self employed and you know that you have the will to do it, the passion to make this a reality for yourself, then you are truly someone who should build a business from the ground up and prove to others that being self employed is something you can achieve with hard work and dedication. So now you know how to go self employed, it is time to take action.

There are many great part time self employment jobs available today. Are you looking for something to spice up your dull and dreary day job? Are you looking for a challenge that would knock you off your feet? If that is what you are looking for then you are in luck, for here we have a few very good suggestions for you:

If you have a full-time job but are looking for a bit of extra cash or just something to keep you busy over the weekends then doing some promotional work could be just what you are looking for. Many product manufacturers invest a decent amount of money into promoting their products, as such; there are always opportunities for friendly, hard working people who want to make a little bit extra for a few hours of work over the weekend. Handing out free products and prompting others to buy them is really not difficult and you can have a lot of fun while doing so.

Looking for some great part time self employment jobs could be quite a hassle but if you know where to look, you will find just the thing you are looking for! There are many people who have treasures in their homes and don’t even know it! Ask your friends and family for anything that they don’t use at home – old cell phones, electronic equipment, toys that they don’t have use for anymore, etc. All of these things might be just the thing that someone else desperately needs and now you can make a bit of extra cash by selling them again on auction websites like ebay and other websites that let you sell used goods.

If you are very well versed in the English language and have a good grasp on spelling and grammar, then you should seriously consider doing some freelance writing over the internet. The amount of time you spend working solely depends on what you are willing to do and how many hours you want to put into this “job”. There are many freelance sites available where you can look through jobs that are available and you might just find one suitable for you.

Other self employed jobs that might interest you are doing some house sitting jobs. Many people do not wish to leave their houses empty if they go on business trips or on holiday. Look through your local newspaper for ads where people are looking for someone to watch their house, pets, plants and anything else they might have. If you have no criminal record and have a few good references then you might just find a part time job in this line of work.

Starting a small day-care group where you look after a few kids (no more than 5), could be quite profitable but you should only attempt this if you love kids and do not mind looking after them.

These are just some of the part time self employment jobs out there. There are many more available out there in the world and hopefully the above has inspired you to look further if none of the above options already appeal to you.

Are you technically an employee, or are you self employed. Does how long you are working make a difference or not? Well the person asking the question below has found out that he is actually both that is, his self employed job makes him self employed, and his employee job makes him employed.

I need to register as self employed as I will be starting a freelance role (I’m a journalist) although I still would like to carry on with my part time call centre job. What do I need to do? I’m finding this very confusing!
I mean I need to register as self employed so am I still able to work part time for this other place?
Am I allowed to be employed by a company whilst being self employed?

Yes, you can be both employed and self-employed. It is quite common for people to have income with each status. There sometimes seems confusion that a person has to be the same status with everything.
HMRC is quite rigid about status, certain criteria apply for either. look at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk , then into individuals, then other topics, then employment status indicator under toolbar.
You will need to complete an annual Tax Return. In addition to the basic form, you will need an employment page, and a self-employment page.
The only restriction may come from your employer. You need to make sure that what you are proposing to do isn’t prohibited by your contract of employment.

Bear in mind if you are not in the UK that the answer above relates to the UK. Other countries may treat this scenario differently, and you may wish to check with your countries tax authority if that is the case when considering your own circumstances.

If you are a mommy looking for self employed opportunities, there are quite a lot of possibilities you can look at. You first need to decide what line of business you are interested in. Do you love selling things? Are you creative? Do you love working with other people? When you’ve answered these questions you will have a better idea of what kind of self employed jobs you will be interested in.

If you love writing you can look at becoming a freelance writer. You have a great deal of flexibility in this profession you decide what you want to write and when you want to write it. You can write articles for online publications and websites or you can become a ghost writer and write fiction and novels for other people. The self employed opportunities in freelance writing are endless – visit some freelance directory websites and see for yourself.

In fact, any skill that you have that you can offer from home you can do on a freelance basis. Do you know how to design web pages or graphics? You could offer that. Can you program? You could offer that. Are you good at creating MS Office macros? You could offer that. Many people are looking for people with skills that they do not have or people that can take on some of the workload.

If writing isn’t for you, you can look at network marketing or multi level marketing opportunities. There has been a great deal of negative publicity about this business opportunity, but if you research the company and the product you will be selling, you are sure to find an mlm business opportunity that will suit you. If you are considering a multi level marketing business as a viable option you need to love working with people.

This is probably the number 1 reason why most people fail at network marketing, their personality does not fit the product or service that they are promoting, and they are not that great at working with other people. It has been said that teachers are quite successful in this business, and that is because they understand their students needs, and know how to relate to their students and their needs, instead of trying desperately to push the business opportunity and the products on people.

Another option for a self employed, stay at home mom is to sell things over the internet. You can open an online shop on a website such as ebay. You can then sell tangible objects or you can sell information products. Information products include ebooks, how-to guides, software etc.

If you love kids you can open a day care centre from your home. Any self employed opportunities that involve child care should be well researched. You will need to find out what the regulations are for day care mothers in your state. You will also need to convert your home according to any state regulations as well as the health department specifications. So be sure to check out your legal obligations before you go any further.

If you have any special artistic talents, convert this into a self employed, stay at home business opportunity. If you love and know music, why not give music lessons from your home. Music teachers are a dying breed and there is a great need for their services in the community. Similarly, many people are always looking to learn a second language, so if you are fluent in more than one language, you could offer one to one schooling, or maybe group schooling sessions. If you are very creative, give creativity lessons for children. You can teach them to use their imaginations to make special artwork.

These are only a few ideas of opportunities for stay at home moms. Think outside of the box and challenge yourself if none of the above appeal to you as there are more ideas out there. Freelancing your computing or writing skills are the easiest ways of making an extra income from home, so you do not need to be away from your kids. And because of the flexibility offered by this type of work, they are some of the best self employed opportunities for stay at home moms.
